Lana Del Rey

Elizabeth Woolridge Grant is an American singer-songwriter and record producer, creating her music in Baroque pop, dream pop and rock. A lot of people say that every song of hers sounds exactly the same. In my opinion it’s because she is creating in this unique style of Baroque/ dream pop that for me brings nostalgia of America from 50s and 60s, it’s almost like I am missing times I have never lived in. People who generally don’t like this kind of music or Lana Del Rey won’t see difference between her songs but for me it’s very visible. I love and highly admire artists who manage to take me into different reality, even impose on me specific emotions like sadness. It’s very fascinating process for me and I am not talking about “sad songs” or “happy songs” because for me it’s not like that if I am listening to “happy songs” I am happy and other way around. For me what matters are emotions encrypted in the sound. For example classical music always makes me wanna cry, because it’s so beautiful and true that it is quite unrealistic compared to our world. The same is with Lana Del Rey, her songs naturally bring this nostalgia of true love, old times. This conclusion consists of every part of her creativity: lyrics, beat, her way of singing, her voice and overall arrangement.
